NO WORDS. Something truly amazing has happened. Russian Roulette - Short Film 2014, a flick we made for £50 over a weekend as a way of making something funny has just made it to the Sundance Film Festival. When something this freaking cool happens its really hard to see it as anything other than a blessing completely outside yourself. I can't really take any responsibility but I can highlight the incredible work of the people who joined me in making this film. HUGE CONGRATS to script-god Oli Fenton, The ridiculously talented Bec Hill and Stewart Lockwood, Sharp eyes Darren Joe, Totally-not-shit-looking-set-making Jonathan Hillson, Truly sound dude Tiago Morelli, Rocket man James Morris and the cuddliest dark overlord Ryan Bennett. Thanks also to our original story inspiration Maria Hummer as well asMichael Dorgan, David Herrera, Karim Yahyaoui, Oliver Cottam, 'outlander'Manos Ioannou and world renowned masterbator Nick Black. What a wonderful way to end a wonderful year, here's to 2015!!
This is really cool. Have an interview in Fangoria talking about He Took His Skin Off For Me (which they are screening at the Nitehawk Film Festival in Brooklyn this coming week) - http://www.fangoria.com/new/nitehawk-shorts-fest-qa-ben-aston-on-he-took-his-skin-off-for-me/
Holy Moly! Two years ago I was delighted to have my first ever film festival experience with 'Dinner and and a Movie' at the London Short Film Festival 2013. Two years on we've SWEEPED the fest with 'He took His Skin Off For Me', 'Russian Roulette' and 'Polygonn' (music video) ALL being selected this year. What a lovely end to a stratospheric year, and a lovely way to begin 2015.
Well that was lovely. Have just finished shooting a gig for AirFrance as part of their 'AirFrane Family' campaign. Decided to go with a John Lewis-style magical/heartwarming short about a lonely night porter at a hotel who goes for an adventure through his desktop wallpaper. Really happy with what we shot, can't wait to share it!
HOLY SHNIT! Our mini film 'Russian Roulette', made entirely to unwind after the immensely complex He Took His Skin Off For Me, continues to kick some serious ass on the festival circuit. We're part of the international competition for the Shnit International Short Film Festival. With over 7,000 submissions this year its mad to think our little film is one of the 64 that got through. The main fest takes place in Bern from the 19th Oct, simultaneously streamed to the 'playgrounds' in Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Cape Town, Kyoto San José and Moscow. If your in any of those cities and feel like checking out a cracking lineup of shorts, as well as some exciting panels and classes, check out the link here - http://shnit.org/en/
Woohoo! We are proud to announce that He Took His Skin Off For Me will be having its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival this coming October. Very exciting indeed, we're at the fest alongside some of our favourite shortsThe Kármán Line - a short film and The Nostalgist which I think skin fans will both love! It's going to be a blast unveiling the film to a London audience. See you guys there!!!
AW YEAH!! He Took His Skin Off For Me is playing at this years Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. It's pretty much the coolest genre fest in the world, so you better believe members of the Skin team are going to be there, let us know if you'll be there too and we'll make sure to high five!! We'll be playing in the 'Short Fuse' program on Sunday 21st Sept, grab tickets while you can!!! -http://fantasticfest.com/films/he-took-his-skin-off-for-me
It's been a busy month. 'He Took His Skin Off For Me' has been selected for several incredibly exciting and awesome festivals, most of which are embargoed. However I'm proud to be able to announce our selection for RIIFF (Oscar Qualifying), Hollyshorts and NociCortin 2014. I will be attending the Noci Cortin festival this week. If your in Rhode Island, you can check out the flick at RIFF on August 7th, 8:15pm (tickets here).
